This weekend Joel and I set off on our second Colorado camping trip. We arrived at Gold Park, which is south of Vail and north of Leadville, on Friday morning and camped there two nights. The campground hosts, fellow Texans, welcomed us right in and we were delighted to get to know them a bit while we were there. Our site was just feet from

the Homestake Creek and provided a wonderful backdrop to our weekend. We went for a short hike to the reservoir where we fished for a few hours, but we didn't catch anything. Back at our campsite we grilled burgers and Joel made me my very first smores! Saturday I woke to a very chilly morning and Joel making a yummy breakfast

for us on the campfire. He even boiled a pot of warm water so I could wash my face...what a guy! Saturday we drove to Avon and then to Minturn for a delicious BBQ lunch. A short hike that we didn't quite finish and an afternoon storm were just the excuses we needed to cozy up and play cards while we listened to the river and rain. The temperature dropped to nearly 30 degrees on Saturday night so Joel got to sleep next to the mesh wall of the tent. It's only fair to share such experiences, right!? We couldn't have asked for a better, more relaxing weekend!
Looks like you had an awesome weekend! Glad you've decided to keep blogging...
